Generous God, Generous Life

As Christians we are called to be generous with our time, our

“I owe you more than my whole self, but I have no more, and by myself I cannot render the whole of it to you”

St Anselm of Canterbury

skills and our money in response to a Generous God who we worship. But we’re all different; so are our circumstances and they change. This harvest season we’d like to ask if it’s time to reconsider our generosity?

Our giving needs to be realistic about the needs of our churches so we can pay our bills and keep the lights on, and as we all know costs are increasing. However our giving also makes possible the life, ministry and mission of our churches. Without it we would not be a living church and be able to serve our community.

Generosity is part of our Christian faith. We give freely, we give to God, honouring him and saying ‘thank you’ for all He gives to us. But good giving needs planning. We recommend using the Parish Giving Scheme which recovers the tax and undertakes the admin at no cost to us. But it’s not just money we need, some can give time and skills, that’s just as important.

We are all different. Some can give more and some can give less. Please do consider if you can give a bit more of your time, your skills or your money.

Thank you
