It’s been a busy Christmas in our churches this Christmas with over 825 people joining us to hear again the story of the first Christmas and to celebrate God with us.
We had traditional candle carol services, crib services and a nativity in a barn in Otley. Often it was standing room only, or sitting on kneelers (or bales), but the atmospheres were great – and that’s before the mulled wine and mince pies were opened!
The story of Christmas is of course about God coming to be with us. We see it in the bible stories, we hear it in the carols and acted out in the crib scenes. But why is it so appealing? Perhaps it’s to do with the fact that deep down there is that God space in each of us that needs to be filled.
As the Christmas decorations are packed away it’s tempting to think that’s it for another year. Well it isn’t! We continue to celebrate God’s love in different ways through the year. Coming up we have our Messy Christingle on Sun 28th Jan in Hasketon, and Christingle services in church on the 4th Feb in Otley, Hasketon and Grundisburgh. We hope to you see then!
