On the 18th June, at a warm but wonderful service at the cathedral, we were delighted to be able to celebrate with Jane Woods as she became a Reader and was licensed to our benefice of churches. Readers are lay people who have been selected, trained and licensed by the Bishop to preach, teach and lead worship in a pastoral context, but perhaps most importantly to think about our faith from a lay perspective. There are more than 10,000 active Readers in the Church of England and in our benefice we are blessed to now have four to help lead our services. Jane has already been preaching and leading as part of her training and we look forward to hearing much more from her over the months ahead.
At the same service Mark Cresswell was formally welcomed to the diocese.
